ADAPTIVE FAQs

Adaptive Snowsports is a collection of on snow disciplines aimed to get people with a disability skiing or snowboarding. Equipment or teaching techniques might be “adapted” to get the best out your time on snow, hence the name “Adaptive”.
The simple and short answer is yes! Obviously the instructor would need valuable information to help chose the correct piece of equipment for someone with a physical challenge. Also don’t be worried if someone you know has a learning difficulty or cognitive challenge, that’s also something the team in Arinsal deal with on an extremely regular basis. So it really is open to everyone.
The gondola takes you up from the centre of the village to the snow and is wide enough for most wheelchairs. Sometimes there are specially designed chairs that do not fit, but this is the exception and not the rule. The people working on the lifts will be there to help you by slowing down and stopping the lift. You can also drive up to the ski station and head straight to the snow or to the accessible lift facilities.
There is a lift to access all the floors of the Arinsal Ski Station main building; also there is an accessible toilet that can be easily accessed by a wheelchair.
When you book lessons (minimum 2 hours) the adaptive equipment is included in the price of the lesson. Just let us know what you need so we can ensure it’s not double booked. Of course if you aren’t sure what you need, we can help you with that.
Arinsal has an exceptional adaptive qualified team at your disposal, so yes absolutely. Similar to equipment we just need to plan times and dates to make sure we confirm the correct instructor for you.
110%, some people will need more time than others which is the same in all of our skiing and snowboard lessons. If you want to learn, you will get there!
Like most ski resorts Arinsal is on a hill so you might need a little help depending on how strong you are. Most of the bars and restaurants are wheelchair accessible, so you don’t miss out on that all-important après ski!

In Arinsal we have a few choices including apartments and hotels that are adapted for wheelchair use and are suitable for different budgets. We at AMC can assist you in this choice and requirements and also make your accommodation booking.

Yes you can, different types of chairs have different requirements so please drop us a message for more information. This service will be available from Toulouse or Barcelona airport.
